To the more mature Christian, eating in an idol's temple would not affect his walk with God. To the weaker in maturity, eating in the idol's temple is partially accepted or validating that idol, and it may draw the person's heart away from steadfast devotion to Christ. Even seeing *you* eating in that temple will weaken them. Your deeper understand of proper things still does not allow you to do them, because it may cause a brother to perish (vs 11).
You might say, should I bend over backwards to accommodate others? Yes!! Our focus should always be on others, and how we can draw them closer to Christ. Of course, there always needs to be a balance, i.e. someone who continually depends on others may have a real need of you *not* helping them, so teach them not to be dependent. Either way, as much as you can, focus on them to help them with their needs. If you need to adjust your lifestyle for others, then do it.
