Amos 9:13 - The Message

"Yes indeed, it won’t be long now." God’s Decree.    "Things are going to happen so fast your head will swim, one thing fast on the heels of the other. You won’t be able to keep up. Everything will be happening at once—and everywhere you look, blessings! Blessings like wine pouring off the mountains and hills. I’ll make everything right again for my people Israel:

   "They’ll rebuild their ruined cities.
They’ll plant vineyards and drink good wine.
They’ll work their gardens and eat fresh vegetables.
And I’ll plant them, plant them on their own land.
They’ll never again be uprooted from the land I’ve given them."

God, your God, says so. ]]>

Amos 9:13 - Additional Comments

After all Israel's disobedience and the judgments against them, God does promise that at some point they will be restored (Amos 9:13-15).
If you have a damaged or broken relationship with God, how can it be restored?
1. Acknowledge there has been separation, a broken relationship with God.
- You cannot get restoration unless you acknowledge there is a problem.
2. Make a decision for restoration.
- You may know there is a problem, but not care about it. You need to acknowledge you need restoration.
3. Evaluate where there is sin.
- You would not have a broken relationship with God unless sin was involved.
4. Spend time in confession.
- Resolution cannot happen unless there is true repentance and brokenness.
5. Plan steps for restoration.
- What do you need to do to be successful on an ongoing basis?
6. Consider the need for others to be involved in the restoration.
- Nothing works like counsel and accountability.
7. Live rich with God.
- The end result of a restored relationship is a rich relationship with God.
--------
What does a right relationship with God offer? Think carefully about what each one of these would add to your life.
- Freedom from guilt (1 John 1:9, Psalm 103:12)
- Rest for your soul (Matt 11:29-30)
- Peace beyond what you can understand (Phil 4:6-7)
- Prosperity and success (Joshua 1:8)
- Comfort (2 Cor 1:3-4)
- Protection (Psa 127:1)
- Joy (John 15:11)
- Answered prayers (John 15:7)
- Relief from fear (Isaiah 41:10)
- Relief from worry (Matt 6:25-34)
--------
These are the results of a right relationship with God. Where are you at in the sequence towards restoration? Is it needed? Has it even begun?
